How many pieces are included in a SET?

Typically, our products ship in SETs of 6 PIECEs. A PIECE is either a HOOK or LOOP shape. A PIECE of HOOK and a PIECE of LOOP is a PAIR. Our standard option contains both hook and loop, so there are 3 hook and 3 loop. The current exceptions are Shirt Packs (only one hook and loop PAIR of each shape in the SET), Merit Badge (this contain 6 hook and loop PAIRs), and the Display Sheets (this is one item only). All listings contain the specific quantity information in the details.

Can I purchase a different combination of hook and loop?

In our Generic products, we offer hook-only and loop-only options on most of our listings. If you need something different, you can request mixed quantities of hook and loop, for instance you might want 4 hook and 2 loop. This option is not available in our products made from VELCRO® Brand hook and loop fastener.

Which side goes on the uniform and which side goes on the patch?

The soft, fuzzy, loop side goes on the uniform. The scratchy, rough, hook side goes on the patch. There is a very simple reason to apply them that way and it comes down to washing. When washing uniforms, it is best to remove the patches to keep them in good condition for a longer time. This leaves the loop side of the fastener on the uniform exposed to other clothing. If this was the hook side, then it would stick to anything else it could in the washer and dryer. Placing the loop on the shirt keeps this from happening (unless all your other clothing has hook on it!).

Should I remove the patches when washing uniforms?

While not strictly necessary, we do recommend it as the patches will look new longer if they are not subjected to many wash and dry cycles.

What is the difference between VELCRO® Brand and Generic hook and loop?

The VELCRO® Brand is slightly darker, more pliable, and higher priced. The Generic is a very good color match for the Tan shirts, a little stiffer, but more economical. Both are quality products.

Can I get some more VELCRO® Brand hook?

We currently only carry matched PAIRs (1 hook and 1 loop) in our VELCRO® Brand items. If you require additional hook, please try our “hook only” Generic products as these work with either VELCRO® Brand or Generic loop.

I ordered from you a few years ago and shipping was included, what happened?

In short, over-stressing of the USPS which we use exclusively for shipping. When we began making Scout Shirt Hook and Loop in 2012, we used standard First Class Mail w/o Tracking and very rarely had issues with an order taking longer than a week to arrive at our customers address and orders going missing for weeks, months, or forever just did not happen. That all changed in 2020 and we were getting weekly messages from customers wondering if their order was shipped. Without Tracking, we could not provide any status beyond the date that it was mailed and we had lost confidence that it really would arrive soon or at all. We were shipping out replacement orders only to have the original arrive days to weeks later than the replacement. We could not go on like this as the standard USPS First Class Mail was no longer serving our needs. To keep from raising all our prices, we chose to add a nominal shipping charge to our orders to offset the First Class Mail w/ Tracking cost. We recently removed the option to request First Class Mail w/o Tracking as almost every order we shipped that way resulted in delayed or lost orders. If the USPS gets back to reliable First Class Mail delivery, then we will reconsider our shipping options.

Can I get a discount?

We currently offer two discount levels: 5 % discount on orders over $75, and 10% discount on orders over $150. Shipping and Sales Tax are not included.

I see that you sell on Etsy and eBay. Which do you prefer?

Our preference is always a direct sale through our website. Listing on Etsy and eBay enable us to reach more customers, but we are able to control our costs better through our own platform and this enables us to keep our product pricing lower. While pricing to our customers is currently very similar on those platforms, our costs are significantly higher there. You found our website, so please buy direct.

Eagle Rank, isn’t that just the Standard size used for Tenderfoot through Life?

No. The Eagle Rank patch is 1/4″ larger in both height and width (who knew, right?).

Why aren’t all your products available on Etsy and eBay?

Simply put, these platforms are not well suited to displaying all the options we have available. When we tried adding many of our items, we were quickly limited by the variations that these platforms would support. Even worse, the way the information was presented resulted in confused customers and hours on the phone verifying orders.

How quickly will my order ship? When should I expect my order? How will my order arrive? What do I do if my order does not arrive or incorrectly shows as delivered?

We hand-deliver your package to the Post Office the same or next business-day to ensure Tracking is scanned and your order is registered in the Post Office Tracking system.

With rare exceptions, we ship orders in white plastic mailing envelopes or brown craft paper envelopes through USPS Ground Advantage (previously First Class Mail). If you have a specific need for a different shipping service, contact us prior to placing your order.

If your order has not arrived or is showing “Delivered” when it has not been, contact your local Post Office or submit a request online: https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Where-is-my-package . Let us know when you have contacted the Post Office and any responses you receive from them. We will work with you to ensure you receive your order, but request that you work through this process first as packages are usually located once your local Post Office is notified.
